COVID-19 and our plan for September

Dear Parents and Students,

I hope this letter finds you healthy and safe. First of all, I want to say thank you for embracing the transition to online lessons and for making it a very positive experience for everyone involved. We have had great success in the past 7 weeks and I can’t believe we only have about 6 weeks remaining.

I want to take this time to let you know about our planning for September. As we continue to consider the orders of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, and the recently announced, alert system, we realize that how we do business has to change. We do hope to open the studio to students in September, but with modified music rooms and business practices to ensure that we continue to offer excellent musical experiences that are safe for both our staff and our students.

The measures that will be employed to accomplish this include:

  • Physical distancing: removing all bookshelves in music rooms to allow for more space and physical distancing;

  • Physical barriers: installation of plexiglass from floor to ceiling to surround the pianos;

  • Scheduling: scheduling 5-10 minute breaks between lessons to allow for students to exit before next student arrives and staggering lesson times between teachers to minimize traffic in common areas;

  • Increased cleaning: plexiglass, pianos, high touch services to be sanitized/disinfected during the break before entry of new student

  • Waiting room closure: when you arrive with your student wait for the teacher to come and get them at the front door; and,

  • Hygiene: students and teachers will be expected to wash their hands before and after lessons.

These is a tentative operating plan that may change based on further planning, the status of Covid-19, and any changes in orders from the Chief Medical Officer of Health. I will update you should any further changes occur and as we get closer to September.

We realize that there may be parents and students who remain concerned about entering the studio so we will continue to offer online lessons if you would prefer to do that. All teachers have been involved in the development of these plans and are willing and able to teach either online or in person starting in September.

In order to adequately plan for lessons in September, registration forms are enclosed. Our schedules will be developed later in the summer so we can consider the status of Covid-19 and in particular, any changes to school schedules for the Fall.

I would like to thank you for your continued support for Dynamic Sounds in very challenging times. I trust that the ability for students to continue their music has been something positive that all of our students could focus on over the last few months. As always, I welcome your feedback on any aspect of our studio, and particularly the plans laid out in this letter.

Thank you,

Michelle
